The rules for using Boltlap. Short, because the service is small and free, and a long contract would be pretending otherwise.
Who is responsible
Boltlap is built and run by Vineeth Pawar, working as an individual. There is no registered company behind it yet, so if you are looking for one, there is not one to find. Everything here is the responsibility of one person, reachable at the address below.
What Boltlap is right now
A pilot. It runs live sessions for a room and a set of Git tutorials. It is free, there is nothing to buy, and it comes with no promise that it will be running tomorrow. Do not build anything you depend on around it yet.
Using it
- Playing needs no account. Type a code, pick a nickname, answer questions.
- An account is for hosting sessions and for saving tutorial progress, and is for people aged 18 and over.
- Keep your account details to yourself. What happens under your account is treated as yours.
Behave reasonably
Do not do any of this. It is the whole list.
- Choose a nickname that is abusive, obscene, impersonates someone, or targets a person in the room. Hosts can hide or remove a nickname and can remove a player.
- Try to break, overload or probe the service, or get into rooms you were not given.
- Scrape it, resell it, or pass it off as your own.
- Upload or write anything unlawful.
If you do, access can be removed without notice. For a free pilot that is the only sanction there is.
If you are hosting
You are responsible for the room you run and the questions you ask. You see your players' nicknames, answers and times, and you can export them. If you are running a session where the result affects someone, a hiring round or an assessment, tell them that before they join. You are the one they will ask.
Do not upload personal data about your players into question content, and do not use the export for anything you did not tell them about.
Content
The tutorials, the questions we wrote, the mark and the design are ours. Questions and sessions you create are yours; you give us only what is needed to run and store them for you. The Git logo is used under CC BY 3.0 and belongs to its owners.
No promises about uptime
The service is provided as it is. It may be slow, it may be down, and a session may fail mid-room because a venue's network blocked something. We will not be liable for loss that follows from using a free pilot. If you are running something that matters, have a fallback.
Money
There is none yet. Nothing on Boltlap can be bought, so nothing can be charged. If that changes, the terms change first and you will be told before anything is payable. See refunds.
Ending it
You can stop using Boltlap and delete your account whenever you like. We can suspend access if these terms are broken, or withdraw the service entirely, since it is a pilot.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of India, and the courts of Karnataka have jurisdiction.
Complaints
Write to hello@boltlap.com. If that does not resolve it, the grievance contact page has the formal route.
Boltlap is in pilot. These terms describe the service as it runs during the pilot.
